Daily Grind of an HVAC Technician

6:00 AM – Rise and Shine

The alarm blares, signaling the start of another busy day. As an HVAC technician for Ray & Son Heating & Air Conditioning, I know that my job is to keep homes and businesses comfortable, no matter the weather.

7:30 AM – First Call

After a quick breakfast and a review of the day’s schedule, I head out to the first appointment. It’s a residential AC repair call in Valdosta. The homeowner reports that their unit isn’t cooling properly. Upon inspection, I discover a refrigerant leak, which is likely the culprit.

  1. Locate and repair the leak
  2. Evacuate the system
  3. Recharge with the proper amount of refrigerant

After a thorough test, the AC is back to peak performance, and the grateful homeowner thanks me for my prompt service.

10:30 AM – HVAC Installation

The next job takes me to a new construction site in Nashville, where I’ll be overseeing the installation of a complete HVAC system. Working closely with the contractor, I ensure that the ductwork is properly sized and laid out, and the outdoor unit is positioned for optimal airflow.

2:00 PM – Lunch Break

With the morning’s workload completed, I take a well-deserved break for lunch. It’s a chance to recharge and prepare for the afternoon appointments.

3:30 PM – Commercial AC Service

In the afternoon, I head to a local business in Lakeland for a scheduled AC service. Preventive maintenance is crucial for keeping commercial systems running smoothly, so I thoroughly clean and inspect all components, checking for any potential issues.

6:00 PM – Wrapping Up

The final call of the day is an emergency AC repair in Quitman. A restaurant’s unit has gone down, and they need it back online as soon as possible. After some troubleshooting, I determine that the compressor has failed and needs to be replaced. With a new compressor installed and the system recharged, the cool air is once again flowing.

As the sun sets, I head back to the office, grateful for another day spent helping our community stay comfortable, one repair or installation at a time.
